![]() ![]() ![]() If it's just that, it is reasonable to be able to offer some limited editing capabilities even though Kaitai doesn't support serialization at this time. However I believe 010editor only offered relatively simple editing capability if I am not mistaking, like changing field values. I believe Kaitai is more capable than 010editor's template syntax, as well - instances are surprisingly powerful and there's even some limited support for some basic obfuscation (like xor pads.)Įditing capability would be very desirable.Įditing capability would be nice. I was a user of 010editor in the past so I am rather fond of its syntax, but I must say I would prefer greatly an open and mature library like Kaitai. Kaitai Struct is relatively mature and has a community built around it with a full library of existing Kaitai Struct manifests for various formats and structures. But of course that would require a C parser and there's no ready-made package available like with Kaitai. I very much prefer the syntax of since it's just like C and you can reuse structs from existing code. There is indeed an interactive editor for ksy files, that is the Kaitai WebIDE. ksy format? Writing that by hand will be a nightmare without auto-completion and syntax checking (esp. (I have contributed some bits that haven't made it into a release.) That doesn't mean a lot of work hasn't been done, but I think it's just been a while since last full release. It is true that releases don't happen very often, however it is a fairly mature library and 0.8 is pretty stable and capable. ![]()
